Balonmano Ciudad Encantada was established in 1989 when acquired the TNT Uniexpress's seat, a team from San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid, relocating the team to Cuenca and renaming it as Madrid-Cuenca. The team finished fifth in 2018 and qualified for a European cup, the EHF Cup, for the first time.
