Nea Ionia is a merged product of historic football clubs, last accomplished in 2001, and it's today's most representative club of this refugee town. The basic colours of the team are yellow and blue. The football club was relegated from the Greek Football League 2 in the 2014-15 season, as they finished 13th in Group 4 rankings.
